The Executive Chairman, Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun OGUNLEYE, has commended the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, MFR, for his various developmental projects spread across the local government area.

The Chairman who gave the commendation, while speaking at the grand-finale of the 35th Akesan Day Celebration, held at Iperu Remo over the weekend, listed some of the projects embarked upon in Iperu and environs, and by extension, the entire council area, to include rehabilitation of classrooms and primary health centres; construction of new classrooms; construction of roads and drainages, particularly the Sagamu-Iperu-Ode road; and the Gateway Agro Cargo Airport, which will also have the Special Agro Industrial Processing Zone; and an Air Force Operational Base.

“Your Excellency Sir, for these and many other interventions, I say a very big Thank You”, said the Chairman.

The Council Boss also expressed his immense appreciation to the Governor, for the opportunity provided for him to serve the good people of the local government.

He assured the governor and the people that the opportunity will not be taken for granted, while the confidence reposed in him, will not be betrayed.

He further sought the Governor’s intervention on the asphalting of the Aiyegbami, Jalugba, Safetedo, Agbala, and Oba Ogunfowora roads; as well as the construction of the Araromi-Imaje-Atake, and Oba Odoru Way, both linking the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Hon. OGUNLEYE promised to run an open-door administration, calling for ideas and inputs that will help in the realisation of his administration’s set objectives.

“The government cannot do it alone, we seek your cooperation and support in taking Ikenne Local Government to greater heights. Ideas and inputs that will help in the realisation of our administration’s set objectives are welcomed. Hence, we shall appreciate your prompt payment of taxes, levies, and rates, as and when due; as a sound IGR base will give us the financial independence needed for the execution of people – oriented projects”, the Chairman further said.

He appealed to Iperu Indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora; the Organised Private Sector; Non-Governmental Organisations; and well-meaning individuals, to contribute their quotas towards the development of the town

He listed some of his achievements within his 100 days in office to include: construction of a block of 8 lock-up shops at Ojubode, Iperu; Construction of 20 Open Stalls at Idotun Market, Ikenne; Grading of Roads; Purchase of Drugs and Dressings for the Primary Health Centres; and a working partnership on Paediatric Treatment with the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Iperu Community Development Association, Chief Babajide OYETI, also thanked the Governor, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, MFR, for his love and affection for Iperu, and expressed gratitude for his valuable contributions and support to the continued development the town.

He also reminded the Governor on the reconstruction of the Akesan Market (Obu); and the establishment of a Vocational Institution for the training of unemployed youths.

He appealed to all sons and daughters of Iperu, to donate handsomely towards the improvement of infrastructures in the town.

On his part, the Alaperu of Iperu, His Royal Highness, Oba Adeleke IDOWU-BASIBO, Odoru V, enjoined all sons and daughters of Iperu, wherever they are, to always remember their town for good.

He wished them well in their various endeavours, and also urged them to join hands with the Iperu Community Development Association, in the task of further developing Iperu Akesanland.

He appreciated the love and support given to the Governor, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, whom he described as a noble pride of Iperu Akesanland.

Speaking at the event, Gov. Dapo ABIODUN, described the event as a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the town.

He enjoined all sons and daughters, as well as residents of the town, to unite, stating that the town will experience meaningful developments if the people live and work as a unit.

Prince ABIODUN promised to dualise the Iperu-Ilisan road, to serve the Agro Cargo Airport in the area.

He also announced that a 100-Bed Hospital under the OSSAP-SDGs; National Automobile Training Centre; and Integrated Farm Centre, would be sited in the area.

Earlier in the day, a Building donated by the Alhaji Abdulyasir OLOWE-led Iperu Descendants Association, United Kingdom Chapter, was commissioned at the Primary Health Centre, Iperu Remo.
