ANLG, ICPC ORGANISES LECTURE ON CORRUPTION FOR LG STAFF

The Management of Abeokuta North Local Government in conjunction with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has organised an in-house lecture for its staff and the Political functionaries in the Council Area.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman, Abeokuta North Local Government, Prince Adebayo Ayorinde applauded the ICPC team, stating that their presence will serve as an avenue to have more understanding on the do’s and dont’s about the activities of the Commission.
Hon. Ayorinde who was ably represented at the occasion by Hon. Adejobi Olusanmi, Councillor representing Ita-Oshin Ward, urged the participants at the lecture, to be good ambassador of the Local Government and enjoined the Commission to be transparent and just in its dealing with the masses.
He also appreciated the cooperation of the Head of Local Government Administration, (HOLGA), Mr Babatunde Owolabi, for creating a conducive atmosphere for the lecture.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Enlightenment and Education Unit of Commission, Mr Akin Taiwo Bankole who led the ICPC team, delivered the Lecture; tagged “Benefit of Integrity in the fight against corruption.”
Mr Bankole further, emphasised some of the tasks and functions of ICPC. He said, part of their Mandate is to receive, investigate complaints and prosecute the offenders.
“It also has the duty to examine, review and enforce the correction of corruption prone system and procedures of public bodies, with a view to enlisting and fostering public support for the fight against corruption, its equally to investigates any complaint about corruption and bribery cases and other related offences in Nigeria” he added.
The Secretary to the Local Government, Mr Kabiru Odusiji, expressed the Council gratitude to the Commission for the opportunity given, by bringing the lecture programme to our door steps.
He therefore, pledged the unflinching support of the Local Government to the Commission, towards making the society free of corruption and other related offences.
Other dignitaries present at the Lecture were; The Vice- Chairman, Hon. Ayoola Oluajo; Supervisor for Special Duties, Mr Aliu Omosowon; Special Adviser on Water and Environmental Sanitation, Mr Jide Egbaiyelo; Consultant on Information, Mr Taiwo Badmus; and Consultant on Political Affairs, Mr Akintunde Semiu; the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Babatunde Owolabi; Directors and Heads of Departments amongst others.
