Arsenal edges out Hotspurs in a North London Derby, extends lead on EPL log with 8 points

It was a sweet victory for the Mikel Arteta’s side in the North London derby as Gunners walloped Tottenham Hotspurs by two goals to nothing.

The memorable victory was the first premier league away win over Spurs since 2014. Right from the blast of the whistle, the Gunners were all out to clinch the maximum points, bombarding the Spurs goal area.

However, what could have been the opener after poor clearance by Spurs in the dangerous position, found Eddie Nketiah but his tame effort was easily caught by Hugo Lloris.

The visitors continued with the ceaseless raid of Spurs goal area and it paid off in the 14th minute, when Busayo Saka raced down the right flank after receiving a long ball from Thomas Partey, his attempted cross was helped into the Spurs net by Hugo Lloris to give Mikel Arteta’s side the 1st goal of the encounter.

Shortly, after the 1st goal, Spurs could have responded with Heung mim son effort that was thwarted by Aaaron Ramsdale to the agony of Spurs fans.

The second goal was registered in the 35 minute, with Saka’s accurate pass to Odegaard who was free in the box, wasted no time by smashing the ball past Hugo Lloris to the elated Gunners’ fans.

The second half resumed with Tottenham Hotspurs on higher tempo, the English International, Hary Kane turning the heat on Arsenal’s defense, forcing Ramsdale to make string of fine saves.

In his bid to change the tide of the encounter, Antonio Conte, switched his tactical formation, brought in Richardson but his tactical change had little impact against Arsenal that was in their best form and in right element.

With the victory, Arsenal has extended their lead atop of English Premier League leader to eight points against the second placed rivals, Manchester City that lost to Red Devils on Saturday at Old Trafford.
