Banyana Banyana of South Africa yesterday became the 1st winner of AISHA BUHARI CUP by defeating the host of the four Nations invitational tournament, the SUPER FALCONS of Nigeria by four goals to two.

The 9 time Africa Champions, the Super Falcons, failed to prove their mettle before the home fans losing to Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

Right from the on-set , the Super Falcons had shown shoddy performance when the team struggled to beat ladies from Mali in their first game.

This defeat has clearly shown that there are no more minors in African female football and that Super Falcons must wake up to the reality of the current situation.

However, the Banyana Banyana of South Africa, though, has come of age and the team is no push over, came into the 2021 Aisha Buhari Cup with the intention to make statement that they were one of the strong forces to be reckoned with as far as Female football is concerned in Africa.

Banyana Banyana began their campaign in the competition with 3 goals to nill, spanking the Black Queens of Ghana, another strong force in female football in Africa.

The South African ladies capped it up with the convincing victory against Super Falcons in the final. The Banyana Banyana was leading by 3 goals nothing before the Super Falcons reduced the tally by scoring two goals, only for the Banyana Banyana to grab the 4th goal via a penalty to confirm their supremacy in the competition.
