Be Your Own Boss- Hon Adesina Charges Youths to Embrace Modern Soilless Farming Technology

Youths in the country have been advised to stop looking for white collar jobs but rather embrace the modern Technology of farming, known as soilless farming, an alternative to soil farming as a means of livelihood and building of food heroes for global dominance.

The Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa, who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon Olabode Olasunkanmi Adegoke, gave the advice during the graduation ceremony of the newly trained partners of Enterprise for Youths in Agriculture (EYIA) cohort 2, at Soilless Farm Lab,  Awowo, Kurere community in Ewekoro Local Government.

” Now, you have grown beyond wasting your time in carrying out any criminal activities that can destroy your lives and destiny, stay connected to Soilless Farm Lab., in order to monitor and mentor you to become self reliant in the nearest future”, the Chairman advised.

He implored all the youths and women trainees, to make good use of what they had learnt during the 12 weeks of rigorous training under the strict supervision of the professional and expertise of the Modern Technology farmers.

Hon Adesina, equally thanked EUPESIA PLACE LIMITED, known as SOILLESS FARM LAB, led by Pastor Samson Ogbole and all the management of the company, stressing that the local government really appreciated their contributions to the development of Awowo community and suburb.

He promised that his administration would give more supports needed to create opportunities for the youths and women in the agricultural sector of the Nigerian economy.

The council’s helmsman, expressed his gratitude to the Alawowo of Awowo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulgafar Olasunkanmi Tijani for the success of citing the farm around the area for the development of Awowo community. And also thanked him for his fatherly role at all times.

Speaking at the event, the Alawowo of Awowo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulgafar Olasunkanmi Tijani, congratulated the graduands for the successful completion of their training.

The monarch charged them to put into use the skill acquired during the training as their own quota to the development of the agricultural sector in the country.

In his own message, the head of local government administration, Ewekoro Local Government, Engineer Ayoade Anthony, an engineer of repute cum motivational speaker, expressed with displeasure, that Nigerian educational system was wrongly footed by laying more emphasis on formal education rather than dwelling on informal education.

According to Engr. Ayoade, ” it is beyond formal education, so you have had informal education, use it to achieve greater heights in life and sky is even beyond the limit,” he assured.

Engr Ayoade, reiterated the need to be consciously successful in order not to fall by the way side when there are challenges.

” It is important to be consciously successful because if you encounter challenges, you already know what you have done to become successful, so you go back to those things and bounce back. But for some people if they fail in life, that is the end of their journey in life because they were just accidentally successful and they didn’t not know the steps that aided them to become successful”, he explained.

” You must be able to think deep, it is when you have been able to think deep that you can take wise decision in life that will make you to appreciate the habit of excellence, that the enemy of good is best and you will be able to move from good to great”, Engr Ayoade re-emphasized.

” Let it continue to ring in your ears that what you have learnt here, can take you to higher heights, than somebody who ended up being a permanent secretary. It is not a matter of position that matters but what you can make out of your life,” he  advised.

Engr.Ayoade rounded off his speech by challenging the graduands to read books to raise their bar.

” You must raise your bar, by reading books, associate with the right people and reflect on what you read; Have mentors, it does not necessarily mean physical mentors, but mentors in books. So read books and you will not be the same because what you will be seeing will be different from what others are seeing and with that, you have a winning edge, that is the secret of life”, he concluded.

EYIA is an enterprise for youths in Agriculture, a programme designed to empower the youths by giving them basic knowledge and also creating opportunities for them in the agricultural sector in soilless farming through technology, enabled fresh vegetable production of bell pepper, lettuce, harbanero and celery.
