My brother in the Broadcast Community, a veteran DJ of old, Yanju Adegbite broke the news of our older veteran, Dejumo Lewis to us late on Friday, 22nd December 2023.

Yanju wrote:
Dejumo Lewis is a Nigerian film and television actor, famous for the Kabiyesi role in The Village Headmaster, Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera shown on NTA from 1968 to 1988 that stars Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson. The new Village Headmaster is still running on NTA Network.

Born: 28 July 1943 (aged 80 years).
Yanju didn’t disclose the cause of the death of “Kabiyesi” Dejumo Lewis who died Friday Morning.
I used to call him buoda, in 1988 when I met him on the Masters of Communication Arts MCA class as his schedule could not let him finish his Masters program before my set came.

Buoda flowed freely with us coming to my bunk at my Father’s house in Agbowo, Ibadan. We were a great group, having Abiodun Kuye of Midas Merchant Bank; Toyin Gbadebo of OGBC; Kayode Akinpelu Lecturer at Ibadan Poly; Mr. Martins (baba Mato) a lecturer at Kad Poly; Sola Fosudo’s wife Yetunde; and others to discuss then.

Buoda was gentle and always very friendly. He was a father figure but showed great respect to us then.
He would always contact me even when THE VILLAGE HEADMASTER program had a hitch with the family of the creator THE SEGUN OLUSOLA FAMILY. Former Ambassador Segun Olusola’s son, Olujimi was one of the pioneer students of Mass Communication of Ogun Poly with me.
And now I miss the real Big Broda, Dejumo Lewis.

May his gentle soul rest in peace 🙏🏼

I was still Abayomi Kassim when we were students together 88-90 at UI so he and other colleagues till date refused to recognise my change of name to Eniola Olatunji. He called me Yomi not even My Rev like others. Always personal. I will miss buoda’s counsel.
