EPL : Race For Top Four Continues as Man. United, Newcastle Secure Important Victories

The fierce battle for the top four in the English Premier League continued as Manchester United and Newcastle United recorded important victories last night.

Manchester United, playing at Old Trafford defeated Brentford by a lone goal while Newcastle, playing away from home, walloped relegation threatened West Ham United by five goals to one.

Manchester United, having lost their previous game at St James Park by two goals to nothing to Newcastle last week, were determined to pacify their teeming fans with good performance.

The Red Devils had a dominant first half performances, with Marcus Rashford, in the 27th minute, scoring his 28th goal of the season with his volley beating David Raya in goal for Brentford after brilliant moves by Anthony and Marcel Sabitzer.

The second half was keenly contested as Brentford came out from their shell to attack, but David De Gea pulled up many daring saves to deny them from sharing the spoil at Old Trafford.

In the same vein, Newcastle United ,secured a win, though, the score line did not reflect the true picture of the encounter as West Ham United were just unlucky to have lost scandalously.

A brace each from C Wilson and Joelinton and a goal from Isak were all the visitors needed to whitewash West Ham United by five goals to one.

As it is now, both United and Newcastle United are tied on 53 points but the Newcastle is placed third on the EPL LOG with better goals difference to push Manchester United to the fourth position.
