EPL: Red Devils Secure Emphatic Victory Against Forest to Move to 3rd Position

Manchester United returned to winning way after their 2-2 draw against Sevilla in the Europa League quarter final on Thursday. The Red Devils surrendered two goals lead, to end the encounter in a score draw.

In order to pacify their teeming fans, coupled with defeat of both Tottenham and Newcastle United in the premier league fixtures, their top four contenders.

Manchester United were poised to seize the opportunity to extend the gap between their rival and pounced on the unlucky relegation threatened Nottingham Forest at the city ground to move to the 3rd position on premier league log.

Nottingham Forest, in the first five minutes was hot but lost steam, thereafter, allowing Manchester United to take control and dominate play in a highly entertaining game.

The duo of Carlos Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the middle of the pack were doing well while Bruno Fernandez had been a menace in the Forest.

However, in the 31st minute, a rebounce from Kaylor Navas after Bruno Fernandez’s powerful shot fell straight to Antony who slotted into an empty net for the first goal of the encounter.

Erik Ten Hag’s side continued to pile pressure on Nottingham Forest but for the Kaylor Navas, the Forest goalkeeper’s agility, the score line llcould have been heavier.

Diogo Dalot, scoring his first goal in United colour, in 76st minute, sealed victory for the Red Devils with a clinical strike to put scores at two goals to nill after receiving a pass from Antony in the box on the left side.

The best and brightest chance for the Forest was in the 73rd minute when a corner was floated into the box and the header from Felipe was close to goal.

With the victory, the Red Devils had returned to the 3rd position on the EPL log, with Newcastle United trailing behind on the 4th position with 56 points.
