Ewekoro council boss, Hon Adesina charges officers of NSCDC to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties in 2023 general elections

As the 2023 general elections in Nigeria is around the corner, the executive chairman, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa has charged officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, to live up to expectation, by ensuring adequate security of lives and properties before, during and after the general elections, slated to hold on February, 2023.

The chairman gave the charge while playing host to the newly posted Area Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC), for Obafemi Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas, ACC Babalola Johnson Paul, in his office.

Hon Adesina, officially, welcoming the newly posted NSCDC Area Commander, ACC Babalola Johnson, reiterated the need for the agency to provide adequate protection for the people, most especially, at the polling Units and other sensitive places across the wards in the state to forestall any ugly incidence during voting and throughout the election periods.

In the same vein, he stressed that the agency should maintain 24hrs surveillance over government facilities, not limited to infrastructures, projects alone but many others, either that of the Federal, State or Local governments as enshrined and recommended in the legislation amendment act in 2007 in respect of the NSCDC .

The council helmsman, therefore, assured the newly posted Area Commander, ACC Babalola Johnson Paul of his support at all times, saying, ” I have always been in good relationship with the agency, infact, I gave the present office being used by the area commander of the agency.

“So when next you come visiting, both the government and other stakeholders will fine tune the modalities of providing a befitting and conducive office”  Adesina restated.

Earlier, in his remarks, the Area Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Obafemi Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro Local governments, ACC Babalola Johnson Paul disclosed that the courtesy visit was in a bid to familiarize the agency with the council and more importantly to introduce himself to the Chief security officer of the local government.

The new NSCDC Area commander sought for the support of the Chairman, Hon Adesina Sikiru towards the completion of the Area commander’s office building at Itori.

ACC Babalola Johnson, expressed his desire to have the Area commander’s office building completed during his era as the Area commander of Obafemi Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro Local governments Area command .

The Council’s Director of General Services and Administration, Ewekoro Local Government,
Mrs Kemi Ogunyewo,  in her vote of thanks, appreciated the newly posted Area Commander for deeming it fit to visit the local government with the assurance that the executive chairman would see to the agency’s requests, ” Hon Adesina is a promise keeper, say and do chairman” she affirmed.

The event had in attendance: the vice chairman, Hon Olabode Olasunkanmi Adegoke; the secretary to the local government, Mr. Adewunmi Okanlawon; the visiting newly posted Area Commander, ACC Babalola Johnson Paul and his entourage .
