.…. promises cash rewards for the victorious team.

The gold medal winning lads, who won the football event of the 7th National Association of Primary School Games and Sports Teachers (NAPGAST), have been advised not to toy with their education at the expense of sports, even though sport is a veritable tool to foster unity and very lucrative.

The advise was given by the council chairman, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa, during the presentation of the trophy and  medals won at the NAPGAST games to the chairman at the council’s secretariat, Itori.

His words: My children, I want to advise you to put more efforts in all you do, but at the same time, don’t abandon your education because whatever you become in life, without education, is nothing. It’s education that will help you to manage the success after you have been brought to limelight through sports. Many great footballers out there are well educated and it has been instrumental to their conduct and performance on and off the pitch. So when you combine the two together, it will give you more glory in life”.

Hon Adesina, congratulated the young lads for the feat, while appreciating comrade Adelani Idowu, who represented the Local government education secretary, for instilling confidence in the boys, to do well in the competition.

“You need to be appreciated, because you must have put in a lot, to instill confidence and motivate the young lads to come out victorious by giving us the needed result.

” Honestly, I want to specially appreciate these promising stars for making Ewekoro local Government proud. I am very sure, sky won’t even be your limit and by the special grace of God, you will continue to go higher and higher,” the chairman said.

While speaking at the event, the elated comrade Adelani Idowu, who represented the Education Secretary, Local Government Education Authority, Ewekoro Chief Semiu Adelani, disclosed that teachers in the council area were always proud of Hon. Adesina sikiru Adisa for the extension of hands of friendship to them.

While briefing the chairman on the exploits of the young lads during the 7th NAPGAST games, he said, “This is the first time Ewekoro local Government is winning and bringing the cup home since 7years ago, in the history of the games. It was a keenly contested competition, with twenty local Government in ogun state, jostling for the cup, but the boys stood their ground to brush aside all the oppositions on their way. It is not only football, but we participated in other indoor games, and we actually did well too”

The Ewekoro local Government football team subdued their hard-fighting counterparts from Imeko-Afon local Government at the colourful final by two goals to one to win the coveted trophy.
