
Fuel Subsidy Removal: Aslg Council Chairman, Hon. Majekodunmi Inaugurates Palliative Distribution Committee

In response to the directive of the State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government, the Chairman, Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi has inaugurated a palliative Committee in his office today, Friday 15th September 2023.
While speaking at the inaugural meeting, the Council Boss explained the necessity of the Committee, to have a robust plan and even distribution of the items which will be released to the Local Government by the State Government very soon.
He, therefore, seeks the cooperation of all the Committee Members, as all hands must be on deck to accomplish the task given to them without further delay.
The Council helmsman appreciated the State Governor for ameliorating the suffering of the people in the council area.
He further explained that the directive given to him, is to ensure that the palliatives are evenly distributed among the vulnerable and less privileged which will be drawn from the 422 polling units in the 15 Wards of the Council Area.
In his own words, the Governor Liason Officer (GLO), Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide, charged the Committee to be open-minded and distribute the items without fear or favor.
He further said that palliative is meant for households and not individuals and must get to every house within the nooks and crannies of the Local Government.
Meanwhile, the Member of the House of Assembly, representing Constituency I, Hon. Atobatele Lukman stated that the Committee must swing into action immediately and come up with modalities on how the palliatives will be distributed as soon as they received the green light from the State.
While appreciating the Committee Members, Hon Majekodunmi commended all the Committee Members for their contributions, cooperation, and selflessness towards achieving the goal set.
