Ifo LG Chairman, Delano Presents 2024 Budget To The Legislators For Approval

The Executive Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Kikelomo Aridunnu Delano, has presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill to the Council Legislators for their consideration and approval. The bill, tagged “Budget of Collective Responsibility,” prioritizes the welfare of the people and grassroot development as its major focus.

Speaking at the programme held at the Council Chambers within the Local Government Secretariat on Monday 4th March, 2024, Hon. Delano, highlighted the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders in ensuring the successful implementation of the budget while emphasizing that the budget reflects the collective needs and aspirations of the people of Ifo Local Government.

The Council boss appreciated the role of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, the Executive Governor of Ogun State whom she said has contributed immensely to the success and remarkable achievements of her administration. She equally commended the role of Royal fathers, Party leaders and the people of the Council area whose cooperation has greatly contributed to her success story since inception.

A breakdown of the 2024 Budget of Collective Responsibility indicated that the budget size is Five Billion, Four Hundred and Thirty Six Million, One Hundred and Seventy Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty Five Naira, Twenty Two Kobo (N5,436,179,735.22), which constitutes both the expenditure and the revenue for the year. This makes the budget a balanced one.

While giving an account of her stewardship, Hon. Delano listed some remarkable capital projects executed by her administration since inception.

According to her, the projects included grading of rural roads across almost all the wards in the local government, construction of mini bridge at Robiyan, Igbore; construction of sheds at fufu market in Ifo, construction of box culvert and backfilling at Awela, Crown Estate and spreading of stone base granite on the road in front of the Ogun State fire service in Ifo.

Others included construction of a block of two classrooms at LG primary school, Iju Aga, rehabilitation of laboratory building at Agbado Health Centre, rehabilitation of a generator-powered borehole at Akera Agbado, construction of two box culverts and earth road with drainages on both sides at Yakoyo, Olorunsogo Community, Ifo, Construction of a generator-powered borehole at Ijemo, Ifo as well as reconstruction of a block of three classrooms with offices at N.U.D primary school, Ikorita Ifo and facelifting /rehabilitation of the Local Government Secretariat office complex and office buildings.

The Council boss however, pleaded for speedy consideration and passage of the budget proposal to ensure that the dividends of democracy gets to the grassroots.

 

The Leader, Hon. Olanrewaju Adeleye on behalf of members of the 8th Legislative Council in the Local Government assured that the proposed bill will be studied and given accelerated hearing and passage.

Dignitaries at the event included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oladapo Adebesin; Supervisors, Special Advisers, Consultants as well as the Head of Local Government Administration, Ms Olufunke Adeniji, Directors and Head of various Departments in the Local Government. Other attendees are, Alh. Musbaudeen Adebesin, Aare Tunde Alabi, Hon. Ganiu Alani Oyedeji, Ogbeni Kola Isola and Hon. Akala Olufemi amongst many other dignitaries.
