
IFO LG HOLDS 2024 BUDGET RETREAT, TAGGED “BUDGET OF COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES”

Ifo Local Government held her 2024 budget retreat on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024, to discuss and finalize the Budget before presenting it to the Legislative Council for approval.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Kikelomo Aridunnu Delano during the budget retreat, held at the Council’s Conference Hall, tagged it, the “budget of collective responsibilities,” emphasizing the importance of working as a team in achieving the budget’s set goals.
The retreat brought together various stakeholders, including members of the Executive Council, Directors, Head of Departments and other participants who engaged in productive discussions on the budget’s priorities, which is centred on executing more people oriented projects and programmes at the grassroot.
The “budget of collective responsibilities” reflects the administration’s commitment to all inclusive governance. According to Hon. Delano, the budget is aimed to address the needs and priorities of the people.
She outlined the developmental projects and activities for year 2024 to include; grading of deplorable roads, renovation of Primary Health Centres and Schools amongst many other developmental initiatives aimed at bringing dividends of democracy to the people.
In her speech, the Director, Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaja Omobolanle Bayewu shed more light on the importance of the budget retreat. According to her, the retreat is a provision of law through the International Public Sector Accounting Standard. (IPSAS).
She stressed further that, the year 2023 budget recorded a high performance level due to the cooperation and selfless efforts of all the departmental heads and the general staff of the Local government, while asking for the same to be replicated in this fiscal year.
The retreat is a crucial step in the budget process. The finalized budget will be presented to the legislative council for approval before being implemented.
Important personalities present at the budget retreat are: the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oladapo Adebesin; the SLG, Hon. Idris Kushimo; Supervisors, Head of Local Government Administration, Ms Olufunke Adeniji; All Directors and Head of Departments of the Local Government who were there to defend their various departmental budget proposals.
