INEC SENSITIZES ADO ODO/OTA LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAKEHOLDERS ON CONTINUOUS VOTERS REGISTRATION

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government has sensitized the Stakeholders in the Council Area on Continuous Voters Registration Exercise at the Local Government Secretariat.
The Electoral Commission Officer Mrs. Abimbola Ogungbemi while addressing the Stakeholders stated that Continuous Voters Exercise is necessary in other to capture unregistered citizens that are now within the voting age.
She added that, there will be visitation to various Traditional Rulers within the Local Government Area for wider coverage of the exercise despite various sensitization in Mosques, Churches and Market Places.
The Electoral Officer further stated that, there are newly created polling units designated to be closer to the electorates,
adding that, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area now has 378 polling units for her citizens to enable them exercise their franchise during elections.
Mrs. Abimbola therefore, implored all Stakeholders to take it upon themselves to inform their people that, it’s now easy to transfer their voting location by visiting INEC office within their locality or INEC website cvr.inecnigeria.org
The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Idelia Godwin in his own speech advised the INEC Commission to put the sentizisation exercise on Radio jingles in other to reach out to the core remote areas.
He assured the Stakeholders that the Nigeria Police Force in Ado-odo/Ota will always be there to maintain law and order before, during and after any electoral exercise so as to protect the lives and properties of the masses.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Commandant, CSC Eludiwura O. S. while addressing the Stakeholders also reiterated the support of NSCDC and other Para-military agencies to work hand in hand with INEC anytime they are called upon.
The Zonal Community Development Committee Chairman Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Chief Aminu Taofeek in his appreciation speech thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission for their efforts towards the sensitization on Continuous Voters Exercise, CVR, that took place in the Council Area.
He also advised other Stakeholders to adhere strictly to the guidelines laid down by the INEC towards a successful Continuous Voters Registration Exercise.
