IPOKIA LG: STAKE HOLDERS MEET ON LAND BOUNDARY MATTERS

The representatives and stake holders of Border Town Communities in Ogun State met today, Friday 19th January, 2024 at the Council Secretariat to address various challenges confronting their Neighborhoods.

According to Mr Mohamed Gaba, from the Federal Ministry of Interior, the team was constituted by the Minister of Interior, Hon.( Dr) Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, to interact with border line Communities in order to know their needs and challenges.

Speaking further, Mr Gaba said that his team where charged with the responsibility of improving Security at border Areas and therefore called for corporation and collaboration of Stake Holders on the issue. In order to optimally accomplish their set goals.

However, he disclosed that questionnaires have been prepared concerning the assignment and will be distributed at the meeting.

The Security Adviser to Ogun State Governor, retired C.P Ajogun, said the meeting is geared towards the achievement of Peace, Security and Stability across  across border communities. He stressed that locals must be involved in the assignment.

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Agbetokun Olawale Wasiu (ONIKOYI), who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Makanjuola Sewanu James, enjoined the Security agencies to re- orientate their officers, so that there will be cordial relationship between the two parties at the border Communities. He also stressed the need for the construction of a bridge at Itohun Area in the Local Government.

The Onipokia of Ipokia, Oba ( Dr) Yisa Olushola Olaniyan called for a synergy between the Nigeria Customs and Border Communities in other to eradicate smuggling activities.

Other speakers includes, Hon. Ogunyomi Gabriel, the Executive Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, who requested for the rehabilitation of roads and construction of School buildings in his Council Area.

Hon. Olaleye Tajudeen, the Secretary to the Local Government, Imeko Afon stated that, he is convinced that problems facing border communities would be solved by the Federal Ministry of Interior.

The meeting was attended by top Officers of Security Agencies in border town Communities; The Onijoun of Ijoun, Oba Gabriel Ogunji; Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Sanitarian Olusegun Olatunji Jelili; Director of Finace & Supplies, Alhaja Kahdijat Adetimehin; Director General Services & Administration, Mr Adebisi Akinde; Head of Education, Information & Sports, Mrs. Olumide Esther and  the Press men.
