The Great Robert Lewandoski formerly of Bayern Munich and Captain of Orly (The Eagle) of Poland on Tuesday lost a vital opportunity to give his Polish team important three full points of their round one group encounter against El-Tri of Mexico when he kicked a penalty shot into the Mexican goalkeeper at the 58th minute making the game of group C end goalless.

Better ranked Mexico at 13 than Poland’s 26 were not distinguished in the game as they had only 4 shorts on target to Poland’s 2; Poland’s goalkeeper was able to save 4 goal bound shots against 2 of Mexico.

The Lewandoski miss made Poland to trail Saudi Arabia on 3-1 points. Mexico is 3rd in group C with a point while Argentina is rocking the bottom with no point.

Poland had claimed world cup Bronze medals twice in 1974 and 1982; made Round of 16 in 1986 but slumped at the group stages in 1978, 2002, 2006 and 2018 in their 9 appearances.
