Man City Zooms into Champions League Final in Grand Style, Decimates Real Madrid by 4-0 at Etihad

It was a sweet revenge for Manchester City against Real Madrid, eliminating Los Blancos with an emphatic victory at Etihad stadium to qualify for the final of the 2022/23 Uefa Champions League.

The Pep Gaurdiola’s side did it in a near flawless performance with a surprising four goals to nill spanking of the reigning Champions and ended the two legged semi final fixture by 5-1 goal aggregate, having drawn with Madrid with a goal a piece in the 1st leg.

Going by the importance of the match to the City, the Etihad arena was electrifying, with the deafening noise of the home crowd, rooting for their darling team, back by their vociferous fans, right from the blast of the whistle, City took the fight to their opponent half, with Jack Grealish and Bernado Silva operating from the left and right flanks to open up Real Madrid defense.

However, the first ten minutes, saw Thibaut Courtois standing his ground, pulling up great saves.

The deadlock was broken in the 23rd minute, Kevin De Bruyne’s pass to Bernado Silva inside the box, gave City the first goal with Silva’s shot from close range to beat Courtois.

Responding immediately, Toni Kroos hit the goal post with a powerful shot. However, it was city that added another goal in the 27th minute with Bernado Silva doubling the lead with a fine header.

Carlo Ancellotti’s side enjoyed brief dominance in the opening minutes of the second half, but failed to utilize their chances with Ederson making some daring saves to ensure clean sheet.

Once again, in the 76th minute, Kevin De Bruyne sent a nice cross via a free kick spot that was headed into the net by Manuel Akanji, beating Courtois for the 3rd goal.

Julian Alvarez, came into the fray in the final minutes to put the icing on the cake by completing the routing, with the 4th goal of the encounter.

With the victory, City had been able to eliminate 14 time Champions League winners to reach the Champions League final for the 2nd time in history, therefore, setting up a final clash against Inter Milan on June 11, 2023 in Istanbul as City continues their quest for a first champions league trophy.
