The National leadership of the Police Community Relations Committee, (PCRC), has hailed the appointment of a former Assistant Inspector General of Police in Charge of Zone 7, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, as the 22nd indigenous Inspector General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In a congratulatory statement signed by the Ag. National Chairman, Professor Nick Ezeh, and made available to Revd. (Mrs) Helen Atekha Odemwingie, JP, led National Publicity Team.
The PCRC Acting National Chairman, stated that, Egbetokun’s appointment is indeed a huge step forward for the Nigeria Police Force, considering the highly sophisticated background and the wealth of experience of the Ag. IGP, who painstakingly and meritoriously rose to the rank of a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) before his latest appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He expressed absolute trust in the ability of the new number one Police Officer in Nigeria, who he described as an Apostle of Community Policing.
He justified the confidence reposed in him and other new Service Chiefs by dealing decisively and flushing out of criminal elements from every nooks and crannies of Nigeria, the Africa’s most populous Nation, through new synergies, community engagements and meaningful working partnerships with all Stakeholders.
Prof. Ezeh equally thanked the immediate past IGP Usman Alkali Baba Rtd., for the support and attention given to the PCRC throughout his tenure and for his 35 years of giant strides and outstanding meritorious service to the Nation, which can only be rewarded by Almighty God.
While calling on Nigerians home and abroad to pray for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Deputy Chairman (South) and Ag. National Chairman assured the Ag. IGP of the continuous support of the PCRC in all areas, most especially in Crime Prevention, Community Orientation and Supports for the Nigeria Police/Community under the leadership of the National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, who is currently away in Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Hajj.
