OGUN INCONJUCTION WITH BIGI ORGANISES ABEOKUTA 10KM RACE WITH A DIFFERENCE

The Ogun State Government inconjunction with BIGI has planned to organised, BIGI ABEOKUTA 10KM RACE  scheduled to hold on Saturday, 13th November, 2021 in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital

This was disclosed after a Press briefing held on Tuesday 14th September, 2021 at the IBD International Hotel to Flag off activities for the 2021 BIGI ABEOKUTA 10KM RACE.

The Bigi Abeokuta 10KM Race is the continuation of the Sporting series that was initiated in 2019 by Nilayo Sports Management in conjunction with Ogun State Government

According to the Manager / Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management, Hon. Dr. Bukola Olopade, that drew local content inspiration from the Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, therefore restricting the Race to only Nigerians unlike the previous edition.

In her remarks, the Brand Manager of Rite Foods, Ms. Boluwatife Adedugbe maintained that the company is proud to be the official sponsor of the Race in order to promote and fan the flame of young talents to international space.

While addressing members of the audience, the Manager of the Race, and Former catptain of the Super Eagles, Dr. Yusuf Alli, said the event has been designed in line with COVID-19 regulations  and all safety standards.

Delivering his own remarks, the Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde expressed gratitude to all relevant partners and sponsors for being in tandem with the ISEYA AGENDA of Prince Dapo Abiodun in nurturing and developing young talents in the State.

He maintained that the Race was designed not just as a Championship Competitions to discover budding talents but also as a way to ensure that Ogun Citizens are healthy, because only healthy people build an healthy nation.

He appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for creating an enabling environment for Sports to strive in the State.

The Bigi Abeokuta Race, which will include a Wheelchair Race will commence from Ake in Abeokuta and end at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium, Kuto.
