Ogun LGSC to Honour Outstanding LG Workers, Sets for Mega 2023 LG Service Week

The task of setting local government service on the path of sustainable development at the grassroots; Promoting and training of professionally grounded Officers and welfare of workers remain key to the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, LGSC.

Towards ensuring this, the Ogun State local Government service Commission, ably led by tireless MS Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, has concluded plans to hold the maiden local government service week, in order to create public awareness as to the essence and prime place of local government in effective delivery of quality service and in engendering sustainable National Development.

As part of the activities lined up for the 2023 Local Government Service week, outstanding local government workers will be honoured with awards of different categories to motivate them and encourage healthy rivalry among members of the local government service.

The 2023 local government service week, tagged : ” Renewed Local Government Service” is scheduled to commence from Friday 10th November to Thursday, 16th November, 2023 with various activities line up to make the event a memorable one.

According to the source credited to the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, the one week event will kicked start on Friday 10th November, 2023 with the LGSC featuring on New Dawn, a popular programme of the Ogun State Television, OGTV. While on the same day, by 1pm, there will be Jumat Service at Federal Secretariat mosque, Oke-Mosan.

Similarly, on Sunday,12th of November 2023, from 10 a.m, Thanksgiving Service will be held at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Bonojo, Ijebu-Ode.

On Monday, 13th November, 2023, is set aside for Medical Outreach/ Charity Programmes at:
* Family Health Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
* Lesley Health Centre, Ilaro
* Italapo Health Centre, Ijebu-Ode
* Makun Health Centre, Sagamu.

Equally, on Tuesday, 14th November,2023, commencing from 10 a.m., there will be public lecture at Obas’ complex, Governor’s Office, Oke – Mosan, Abeokuta.

While on Wednesday, 15th November, 2023, it will be time for road show, from Oke -Mosan to Abeokuta South Local Government, Ake, back to LGSC. Same day, novelty match between Male political functionaries/career staff and female political functionaries/female staff will take centre stage at the M.K.O. International stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The grand finale of the event will come up on Thursday, 16th November, 2023, with red carpet by 12 noon at DLK Events Centre, Abiola way, Abeokuta. While the event will be rounded off with Gala Night ( Award of Excellence) at the same venue by 2pm prompt.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman, Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, has commended the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, ably led by MS Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, for organizing 2023 local government service week, which according to the Chairman, “it is first of its kind in the annals history of the commission”.

“It is a welcome idea, that will foster Unity, sense of belonging among workers and in a way, it will serve as tonic needed to motivate workers to put in their best in ensuring quality service delivery which will in turn rub off on the grassroots development”, the chairman said.

Hon Adesina also appreciated the efforts of the Service Commission in regular capacity building of staff members as a major tools needed to broaden their knowledge and skills in order for them to deliver their statutorily responsibilities.
