Ogun State LGSC Chairman, others Induct as Fellow of Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria

The Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, LGSC, Barrister Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, was on Friday inducted as a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria.
Apart from the Chairman, some senior members of the Commission and Bureau of Local Government Pensions were also inducted.
Speaking during the investiture, the Chairman, LGSC, Barrister Olivia Onabanjo said the State Local Government Service Commission is the cynosure of all eyes, with other Local Government Service Commissions emulating its landmark performances because of the display of outstanding performance of its staff in their various area of disciplines.
She said “the Commission is committed to entrenching professionalism, diligence and enviable service delivery in all ramifications at the grassroots.
Our vision, according to the Chairman, is “To be the most disciplined, ethically acculturated and professionally grounded and our mission, is to have a local Government Service that is effective and efficient in service delivery provided by its crop of well trained and disciplined personnel; With the core value of integrity, professionalism, discipline and passion for excellence”.
She revealed that the Service broke the record of producing best graduating student at the Course 32 of the Postgraduate Diploma at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), nationwide, adding that having gone through the track record of the Institute, in the area of promoting research and development of curricular of training of Local Government employees and Public Administrators, the Commission is committed and delighted to partner with the Institute for an all round staff development and training needs.
“The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission prides itself as “being in the forefront of staff welfare, training and retraining of its Workforce for optimum service delivery” Onabanjo said
In his own remark, the Registrar of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria, Dr. Uche Okereke, FCPA, stated that Local Government in Nigeria is the only arm of government that prides itself as the tier of government that is nearest to the grassroots and is not only an arm of Government but a disciplined one.
He revealed that the Institute has inducted 319 professionals, the syllabus is approved by the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria.
“We have been mandated to induct the Senior Executive course 44 Students, Kuru, while urging the newly inducted members to show examples by taking the Award as a sign to put more efforts in impacting positively on the lives of the people” Okereke said.
Responding on behalf of other Awardees, the Permanent Secretary, LGSC, Dr. Adeolu Olufowobi, affirmed that the awards reflected the good work been done by the Commission, added that, it has shown that the Local Government Service Commission is concerned on the capital development of its workforce.
Dr. Olufowobi then thanked the organizers for counting them worthy for the Award, while promising that the Commission would not do anything to disgrace the Institute.
In the same vein ,Olufowobi applauded the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR), for making the programme realistic, saying “if they had not been appointed into their present positions, they would not have been members of the Institute.
The Awardees included; Hon. Femi Lukman Adiro, Full-Time Commissioner l; Otunba Koye Martins Ijaduoye, Full-time Commissioner II; Dr. Abolaji Olusesan Fagbayi, Full-Time Commissioner III; Full-Time Commissioner IV, Balogun Olatunde Rufai and Mrs Olubukola Adeniregun, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions.
