It is a “New Dawn” in Ogun Waterside Local Government, Abigi as the Executive Chairman of the Council Area, Hon. Odunnoiki Adetoye AbduGaniyu, advised the newly inaugurated members of the Legislative Arm recently.
He enjoined them to focus more on how to compliment his efforts through making meaningful and developmental laws for the benefit of the entire people.
Hon. Odunnoiki stated this while inaugurating the 10th Legislative Council in their Chamber at the council Secretariat in the presence of the All Progressive Congress Party, (APC) Leadership, members and the entire good people of the Local Government.
He appreciated the State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for the confidence reposed and the platform given to all of them to serve the people of the area. He promised on behalf of the others, not to disappoint him or any of the party leaders in the course of their duties.
The Council Boss also used the medium to appreciate all the Party Leadership for their efforts, commitment, dedication, and doggedness before, during and after the election, saying that his administration will do everything possible to bring much awaited dividend of democracy to the nooks and crannies of the Council Area without bias.
He therefore, sought for everybody’s support, cooperation and advice towards taking the Local Government to an enviable height as they too have gotten ready to set a pace at every point in time.
He said “as we all know, that the Local Government is an agrarian setting, I will work assiduously towards assisting all the farmers in order to provide food security for the people, which hitherto will also be exported to the neighbouring state for commercial purposes.
He admonished all the inhabitants of the council area to pay their taxes, rates, levies, and dues promptly, as that’s what will help the government to deliver all the campaign promises which will make lives more meaningful to all.
Some Party Leadership, such as the Local Government APC Party Chairman, Alhaji Logere Abiola; Former Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. AbdulAkeem Balogun; Onisin of Ilusin Town, HRM Oba Jimoh Mafe Abimbila and a former Council Chairman, Hon. Rufai Olatunde AbdulRasaq, who spoke differently at the occasion, advised both the Executive and the Legislative Arms to work together for the peace, progress and tranquility of the entire populace. Thereafter, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Odunukan Adebayo Josh, conducted election for the post of a Leader of the House amongst the members, while Hon. Ajayi Okeowo Felix from Ode-Omi Ward 10, emerged.
The Principal Officers emerged unopposed as conducted by the Leader included; Hon. Adams AbdulAzeem Damilola from Abigi Ward 5, Deputy Leader; Hon. Adenuga Hammed Olusegun from Ibiade Ward 3, Majority Leader while Hon. Akinbote Oluwaseun Samuel from Ayila-Itebu Ward 8, emerged as the Chief Whip.
Other honorable members are: Hon. Adekoya Olamide from Iwopin Ward 1; Hon. Liadi Lukman Akorede from Oni Ward 2; Hon. Abire Abiodun Adesile from Lukogbe-Ilusin Ward 4; Hon. Osunwo Adekunle Oluwatosin from Efire Ward 6; Hon. Ayebusiwa Segun from Ayede-Lomiro Ward 7 and Hon. Ogunbanjo Babatunde Moses from Makun- Irokun Ward 9.
The epoch making event was well attended, amongst them includes; Hon. Alhaja Ogunlana Olabode, Vice Chairman; the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Odusoga M. Olalekan; Directors, Heads of Department and Units, Political Stalwarts, Traditional Rulers, Market Men and Women, Religious Leaders, Union Leaders, Farmers and many more.
