OGWAMA Sensitizes Community Leaders on Illegal Disposal of Refuse

The Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) had sensitized Community Leaders from Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas of the State to desist from illegal disposal of refuse.
The meeting which was held at the office of the Executive Chairman, Ifo Local Government had all the stakeholders from the Community Development Council, CDC; Community Development Association, CDA; Local Government Environmental Officers, as well as Officers from the State who visited the two local government, in order to enlightened the masses on the proper disposal of refuse.
Addressing the gathering, Director of Operations, Ogun State Waste Management Authority, Mr Akinboje Shofola reiterated the effort of the State Government in putting an end to illegal disposal of refuse within the State. He maintained that, any violator will be prosecuted.
He stressed further that, the programme will be a door to door collection of refuse by the officials of the authority while a token of five hundred to One thousand five hundred naira only will be charged at the end of every month depending on the structure of the house.
The Executive Chairman, Chief (Mrs) Kikelomo Delano appreciated the OGWAMA team for the new approach towards achieving cleanliness of our society as this will eradicate the risk of epidemic within the local government in particular and the State at large.
She implored them to evacuate the existing waste bin situated in some market places while also urging them to consider some market places where there is no existing one.
The Zonal Chairman of Community Development Council in Ifo, Prince Amos Oladele, while, thanking OGWAMA seized the opportunity to appeal to the State Government to do all the road networks for easy collection of refuse in all the communities.
Present at the meeting were; the Vice Chairman, Hon Oladapo Adebesin; Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Tayo Akintomide; Director of Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Ifo and Ewekoro Local Governments; Head of Department of Community and Social Development of Ifo and Ewekoro Local Governments and members of Information Education and Sports Department of Ifo Local Government respectively.
