QATAR 22 : SUPER EAGLES ZOOMS INTO PLAY – OFF SPOT AFTER SCRAPPY ENCOUNTER AGAINST CAPE VERDE

The Super Eagles Of Nigeria yesterday after a scrappy performance with the hard-fighting Blue Sharks of Cape Verde managed to move to the play-off of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers billed to come up in Qatar.

The Super Eagles, playing at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos with array of stars could not live up to the high expectations of Nigerians who trooped to the arena to cheer the Eagles ceaselessly.

Eagles, playing under pressure for the better part of the second half, kept fans at the edge of their seats but thanks to Victor Osimhen who shone like a million stars, playing almost everywhere on the pitch, earning applause from the fans with the shout of Osimhen, Osimhen renting the air.

He registered the first goal of the encounter as early as in the 1st minute, only for the Super Eagles to allow the Blue Sharks in the 5th minute to level scores through Stopira who did a yeo man job for the Blue sharks in the defence.

However, mention must be made of Joe Aribo,Wilfred Ndidi, Chidozie Awaziem, Moses Simon, and Alex Iwobi for their individual efforts in a match that almost gave Nigerians heart attack.

The Blue Sharks goalkeeper, Vozinha, put up scintillating performance, denying Super Eagles of scoring with many daring saves.

At the end of the nervy encounter, the Super Eagles top group C with 13 points while the Blue Sharks came second with 11 points, leaving Super Eagles clear with 2 points gap lead which were enough to earn the Eagles, the play-off ticket.
