Yewa South LG Proposes 3.112 Billion Budget For Year 2023

Towards consolidating on his mission and vision of good and qualitative governance at creating enduring economic future for his Local Government and individual prosperity of his people, the Chairman of Yewa South Local Government in Ogun State, Hon. Lateef Salami has proposed the sum of #3,112,923,712.45 billion budget for year 2023.
Presenting the budget proposal tagged “budget of consolidation” before the Local Government Legislative Council in Ilaro, Hon. Salami pointed out that, total recurrent expenditure for the year is estimated to cost #2,877,723,712.45, representing ninety-two percent (92%) of the total budget, while capital expenditure is estimated to gulp a total of #235,200,000.00 representing eight percent (8%) of the total budget size.
The Chairman said that the proposed budget is expected to be funded through proposed Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of #76,000,000.00 million, representing two percent (2%) of the budget size, capital and other receipts estimated at #200,000,000.00 million making six percent (6%) of the budget size and proposed statutory allocation of #2,836,923,712.45 billion of ninety-one percent (91%) of the total budget.
Hon. Salami who appreciated members of the House for their steadfastness and dynamism in the performance of their constitutional duties towards the council’s administration said that, the budget would afford his administration the opportunity to consolidate on its vision, mission and gains of democracy being enjoyed by citizens and people of the Local Government Area.He added, “the road to economic growth that has been charted by this administration last year is still on course, though the task may seem daunting but, it is surmountable.
“This administration is determined more than before to improve the social and economic wellbeing of our people through the provision of appropriate infrastructures, conducive learning environment, improved healthcare services and efficient waste management system amongst others”, he said.
In his address, the leader of the legislative House, Hon. Prince Talabi Safiu, while commending the Chairman and his team for early submission of the draft budget to the House said that, for public probity, accountability and towards ensuring that public resources are scrupulously applied for the intended purpose, the legislative council would examine the draft budget carefully before it’s approval in order to ensure that each project contained therein is sensible, desirable and likely to facilitate the meaningful development of the Local Government Area.
Hon. Safiu further stated that, adequate provisions would be made for the execution of each project in the proposed budget to ensure that, non is abandoned and to avoid unduly concentration of developmental projects in any particular section of the Local Government Area.
