IMEKO: Hon Olorode Inaugurate 8th Legislative Council, Charges them to be Beacons of Hope and Progress

The Executive Chairman, Imeko Afon Local Government, Hon. Theophilus Aremu Olorode has officially inaugurated the newly elected Councillors as the 8th Legislative Council of Imeko Afon Local Government at the council’s Legislative Chamber on Tuesday, 26th November, 2024.

The Council helmsman, while delivering his speech at the significant milestone event, called for a collective effort between the Executive arm and the Legislative arm to ensure that the Council becomes a beacon of hope and progress.

Hon. Theophilus Olorode expressed his profound appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun (CON) for his sagacity in leading the APC and Ogun State at large in the path of enviable achievements.

He further charged the Councillors to embrace the principles of service, integrity and collaboration in the discharge of the honoured mandate bestowed upon them by the people, stressing that their new duties require diligence, fairness and inclusivity.

“As we work together in this team, I would like to emphasize the importance of synergy between the Executive and Legislative arm of our Local Government. Let us be guided by a shared commitment to the development of our communities, improvement of infrastructure, provision of quality services and the promotion of peace and security” he said.

Thereafter, Magistrate Titilayo Otayemi-Osikoya of Ilaro Magistrate Court, administered the Oath of Office to officially sworn-in the Councillors.

After a brief session of nomination and voting, the following Principal Officers were elected to steer the ship of the 8th Legislative House of the Local Government: Hon. Balogun Olajide John – Leader of the House; Hon. Akinwande Olusoji Oladayo – Deputy Leader; Hon. Omoyayi Nurudeen – Majority Leader and Hon. Mustapha Tawakalitu – Chief Whip

While appreciating the opportunity given to him to serve as the 8th Leader of the House, Hon. Balogun pledged on behalf of other councillors that they will not let down the good people of Imeko Afon Local Government.

Dignitaries at the inauguration ceremony included: The Vice Chairman, Hon. Monday Sangobunmi; The Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaja Adebimpe Sekoni; the DGSA, Mr. Adedayo Idowu; Head of Information Department, Mr. Ayoola Obadimu and other Directors of the Local Government.
